next 72 hours I’m going to be starting a brand new production company from 0 and I’m going to leverage AI to get us some paying clients and to make the challenge even harder I’m not even going to use a portfolio so that I can show you the step-by-step process I take to start and grow a business so that you can get results no matter your background no matter your investment so that anyone watching this can follow their dream of running a full-time video production company Okay so we’ve got a big challenge ahead of ourselves and what I’ve done here is I’ve created a figma board which basically goes through all the steps that I believe you need to take in order to run a successful business now of course we have a limited amount of time to make this business successful and start generating money by using no investment and leverage in some AI so we’re going to have to skip some steps throughout this process I’m also going to be recording for hours at a time so I’m going to ask the editors just to trim through any of the stuff that isn’t relevant and just so that when you watch this you’re watching the most impactful bits of information so let me run through the plan of action and then we can get straight into this because um I already feel the pressure of the fact that time is ticking so look the first thing is building a business we’re going to kind of start to establish this over today maybe even moveing into brand building as well so these are things like establishing a niche uh Services looking at benefits and advantages tone of voice vision mission who your ideal customer is then once we’ve got that we can start to focus on building out Our Brands that’s things like our marketing material our website email addresses things like that then it moves into one of the most important points which is sales and that always starts within lead generation there’s a hundred different campaigns that we can try and run and I’ll go through with you what ones are going to get us the quickest results later on in this series and everything basically leads to a discovery call on that Discovery cool we sell them the project and there we go that’s how we’re going to generate our first paying client then it creates a bit of like a loop here as well which any business should have which is why this is this series is going to be relevant to people who have been going for a few years and looking for better ways to run their business more efficiently and of course this is built on the background of my own video production company uh that’s generated millions in sales and work we work for clients all over the world um or certainly uh now my team does as well which is really awesome so once you’ve got the project we obviously go to the production process which we can also use for marketing which then fuels our marketing kind of inbound uh lead which leads us into a discovery call which gets us more projects but obviously then we go down that uh whole process of deliverables you know moving them on to a year-long retainer by signing them onto a Content plan or having discussions with them about future projects and again everything leads back into this Loop and this is what builds a really healthy business or what I’ve discovered through my years of growing our own production company so let’s get straight into this today so um we’re going to be looking to start with business building and and finding uh kind of a niche that works because if we start here the name logo website everything can derive from what we want to to do moving forward and what I’m going to do is quickly just create a uh a Google doc where I’ve got uh the business plan so I can kind of start to map out a bit of a to-do list or just do these things as we go as well so when we think about a niche it doesn’t always have to be an industry and actually one of my bits of advice to creative people is not actually starting with a niche straight away because you have no idea if it’s going to make any money you don’t have a portfolio or background in that at all so until you become more established and work out the kind of things you’re good at and kind of work out having a niche is all about understanding that audience speaking their language and actually then having a best chance of success when you’re starting out or starting a business particularly with me right now with no portfolio I need to look at like okay so what kind of problems am I going to be solving so when I talk about Niche I’m really going to be going quite broad here but I know I’m certainly going to be going over um small business owners because with small business owners they’re going to be our lowest hanging fruit right they’re going to be the people that have got a little bit of money to spend but are willing to take you know a bit more risks I can’t go over over to big companies and basically say to them do you want to work together if I’ve got no track record and no portfolio so I’m going to start with what we call a lowest hanging fruit the easiest s that we can get so I’m going to go over small business owners particularly in the local area and I’m going to see what we what we manage to do uh there as well so the next Point uh on on here is going to be uh our services what kind of things are we offering um so Services is really easy because most of you know that already so video um content for uh website and social media and then also we’re going to be doing photography I think if you can do both I think it’s really good especially if you’re starting out because um businesses at the moment we’ve noticed a big shift towards photography um and it’s a much easier sell into them as well um it’s lower ticket compared to video content but it could be a way to get into the door into these businesses or have a conversation about photography and then upsell video content um onto that as well maybe uh as we look into that as time goes on benefits and advantages by the way so many people skip this step um when they are building a business and this is probably one of the most important steps is actually building out the foundations to which everything else it relies upon um because if we go straight into name logo website we’re then not really talking to specific people and we don’t really know what challenges we’re solving for them there is actually a really good AI tool that I’m actually just going to use right now um and then that’s that’s called founder power but this is basically I’m getting a couple of steps ahead of ourselves now but um over on our plan this is our ICP and IC CP is an ideal customer persona it’s what we base our business around that what does that ideal customer actually look like so I am kind of jumping ahead here but um again I really want to today make as much Headway through this as I can um I also obviously I’m running my other businesses as as we do this so um I know I’ve got a couple of meetings today that I need to leave for as well uh and then come back to so um I’ve tried to keep my meetings to a minimum but it’s impossible when you’re running like four businesses so your business is uh video uh videography or uh video content or something like that it’s fine and then your target audience segment is going to be uh small local business owners this is pretty broad again over time we can Niche this down more but we don’t really have the luxury of doing that when we get into the sales thing I’m already got some ideas of some niches and how I’m going to approach that there’s going to be a whole bunch of value when I get onto that point but I’m trying not to jump head because um you know that’s just you know keeping in mind what I know so it creates a Persona so here I’ve got Sarah Sarah is a small business owner who runs a Cozy Cafe in the heart of the city um she struggles with engaging video content to promote her business and social media so yeah that that sounds like a good kind of um person that that we would want to want to Target the problems that people like Sarah or small business owners face is creating high quality content to showcase the unique atmosphere of a cafe and effectively reach her target audience the pains that she faces is missed opportunities for uh reaching potential customers low online engagement this is probably a huge thing knowing knowing businesses quite well um low online engagement is maybe a route that we can really pull from here is like increase your engagement like with your audience as well uh brand awareness now really brand awareness is actually not what businesses want they actually often want brand engagement but the term brand awareness is so overused that we will just use that same thing but actually what they’re looking for is that engagement um so great stuff Sarah wants to effectively showcase um her business for all intents and purposes um through engaging video content ultimately increasing uh yeah Customer Loyalty uh and and traffic as well um it’s also got some other benefits here which I was getting on to um which is um uh uh increased online engagement and reach on social media platforms improved brand brand awareness and recog and local community enhance customer loyalty and repeat business so I’m just going to actually take these here because we’re going to use these when we when we build out uh the sales strategy later on otherwise we don’t know what we’re saying so uh and by the way difference between like benefits when you when you think about this by the way my spelling is terrible but uh you don’t need to spell good to run a successful business that’s for sure um so if you think about it like this if You’ got a mobile phone then um you know that’s the actual product that’s the kind of service right that that’s the thing thing um a benefit of having a mobile phone is that you can phone people when you’re in an emergency um the advantage of having an iPhone over a different type of phone is that you can have you know find my iPhone or you can have you know IM messager and all stuff like that when you start to think about your business on th those levels it actually means that you’re not just selling video content like everyone else in the industry and uh you’re then just going to blend in it helps you to really stand out and actually talk the language of the things that they’re looking for no one wants to buy video content no one wants to buy photography but actually um that they’re going to uh you know what they want are the results so we need to be results focused here um founder pal gets you gets you a good way there but again I would do some market research if you’ve got more time but we we don’t have we don’t have time to do this so um let’s just let’s just go with this uh so trigger why does why do they all of a sudden want video marketing um competitors viral videos so this is this is really key actually here um so we’re going to lean into this in in our strategy later on for sales so trigger uh importance of video marketing yeah cool um small businesses often can feel like they’re falling behind especially when um other their competitors are just constantly like in the Forefront of people’s minds so we we’ll lean into that as well as a pain Point um barriers is uh yeah production and costs isn’t going to be too much of a problem because we’re starting out as a beginner lack of technical SK skills we can do that skepticism about the return of investment um so yeah um this is something that we could get into as well but again I’ve got no portfolio and this is where actually if anyone’s got a case study if you if you’ve already got clients do a quick case study on them like what position were they in what position are they in now haven’t used your services um and then this helps handle this objection about skepticism um or or return of investment Okay cool so um we we we’re through this part already um and which is good um so tone of voice um is going to be key how do we want to sound um do we want to be big bold and brave do we want to be like you know this is who we are we create amazing content we’re you know going to do this or do we want to be softer more kind of warming uh do we want to come across as personal um so what I try and get people to do at this point is think about um who is who would be your celebrity who would be someone that’s a celebrity figure that kind of is in line with you know your uh values and the things that you stand by um so let me have a I have a little think about this now okay um the only one that really comes to mind to be honest with you is Steven Bartlett um U I’ve spok about him on on the channel before because he is actually my production company’s kind of you know tone of voice as well he is the only person that comes to mind and that might just be a reflection of my personality and again my beliefs and values and things like that um the reason I think stepen Bartley is good because you know not only has he been extremely successful in business he has a lot of different revenue streams he he uh is a dragon on Dragon’s Den um you know the UK version of Shark Tank and he um is you know he speaks with um conviction he has confidence he knows his stuff he’s an authority in the space but he also shares compassion um he listens to people um he’s not afraid to challenge people on their thinking but ultimately to try and help them uh in the long run so I think it’s a very kind of helpful character so let me just note these down now Okay cool so there’s a couple of the buzzwords there um the reason you want to kind of do this cuz it’s going to help later on especially uh we’re not going to have time to probably do much marketing but in the marketing sphere um it helps you really kind of write content write post and make sure that you’re coming across in the right sort of way um I’ve written down bold as well and I think like already um I’m going to start to kind of like just put like ideas um in here as well because you know ideas happen all the time right they don’t just come to you when you think I’m going to think of an idea now um so I was thinking like you know um bold content for um uh for for for businesses that want to stand out so let’s go back to our figma board great so we’ve kind of jumped back and forth ahead here as well so vision and and Mission so Vision what are we what are we actually looking to achieve you know we we know kind of a bit more about what we’re going to be doing now um Vision so let’s think about that where where do I want to go where do I see this business um well I see this business being um so I I think it’s going to be something like um we create content that that enables small businesses to stand out what you want to do here is is again I just don’t have time to spend like realistically if you’re doing all of this properly um you should spend a good few days on this in itself keep going back to it and making sure that you you’ve got this right and I’m kind kind of having to leverage some of my past experience as well but um I think you know we want to create a statement that really encompasses like why do people why should they listen to you why should they come to you well I’m going to be going after small businesses so you know having a statement piece that’s we create content that enables small businesses to stand out or we create content that enable small businesses to um you know have a oneup on their competitors whatever it is really needs refining but but for now um yeah I I think I just I’m conscious I’m conscious that time is passing um really really quickly so uh let’s go on subm Mission so Mission here is uh you know basically what what is our mission to achieve now again we would think much bigger P picture here and maybe think about kind of like um maybe even a onee or fiveyear picture obviously we’re thinking about a 72h hour or or way less than that now maybe to um support at least one small business with video content um to Kickstart this business I think that’ll do for now um I also would like to see how many businesses we can get as well and we’re going to try different strategies as well and you’ll be certainly coming along on this journey as well through through the things that will work well and then the things that will inevitably fail at as well you know you you cannot learn from constantly succeeding have to fail in order to learn and uh it’s never truly failing if you learn from it and continue moving forward it’s only if you stop uh that that’s you know there’s no other outcome when you stop then that’s it like that’s uh that’s you know what I would can perceive as a as a failure so um we’re going to keep going with this and we’re just going to try different things okay so we have gone over really quickly this business building this is the foundations um of building out our business and actually already I’m hoping that you guys can also see this like if I was just going to call my business a name um it is just a name at the end of the day but it’s actually now going to be way more meaningful now we’ve got an idea of what kind of business we’re going to be um and how we’re actually going to help people um business success is solely based on your ability to convince people uh that you’re uh get going to be able to help them you know um it help them in one way or another kind of that that’s the found ations of having a business so um I think we’ve done a pretty good job of this we’ve leveraged a little bit of AI I’m going to get into more of that later on particularly with sales as well so um let’s go to the next point now which is which is then into the brand building side of things so now we can start to think of a name and this is where I am just going to uh leverage um chat GPT as one of those things okay so um I have to appreciate that this is going to jump back and forth at times because I’m obviously doing this live as we go I am going to come back and visit all of these things in way more detail particularly when we start to get towards more the sales element of this and when we’re looking at different campaigns we’re going to need to really double down on that Niche and that’s when we’re going to leverage AI a little bit more and we are going to come back to this but it’s given me the Foundations at the moment and there are really five key things that you’re going to experience when growing your business and moving forward which can often feel like that saying of one step forward you know kind of two steps back first of all is your goals you need to set those goals to get an idea and make sure you’re going in that right Direction those goals are going to be followed by problems there’s no doubt you’re not always going to get it right first time when those problems arise this is where it starts to feel like you’re going back and that’s where a diagnosis phase starts to come in with that diagnosis phase you need to identify the root cause of those problems if you don’t get to the bottom of what’s causing that then you’re going to probably just keep experiencing that same problem so it’s all about getting to that root cause and and um there’s loads of strategies to help with this as well so for instance just ask yourself the reason why five times so when you’ve got a problem why does that problem exist exists because of XY Z why does that exist well because of this why does that exist because of this Etc then you actually get to the root course after that it goes back to kind of design or develop where we’re actually looking to um okay right this was where we’re going at in the line with our business this is the the goal we wanted to achieve but actually didn’t work this is what we learned from it this is going to be the redesign redevelop stage then sometimes it leads on to another problem and and it loops around or it then goes forward to the point of just doing it and that’s the last St stage is actually you know just implem is just implementing this thing get it going move forward and that’s when your business starts to generate that traction and we’re going to experience this no doubt as we go through this process so I will come back to these more in a moment but what I want to do is I want to take all of these things that we’ve we’ve written down so so far I want to go over to chat GPT and I want to give it some rules I want to say um can you come up with a name for my video production company and we want to give it some rules here as well so rules one can’t be cheesy two we want want it to sound like something Steven Bartlet created and let’s see what it comes up with I can give it some more um I can give it some more parameters in a moment okay it’s done a terrible job how about Urban Lens Productions it embodies the urban modern Vibe not one that’s going to hit with me thank you uh let’s go um give me give me 20 more so by the way I want to create a business name because I thinking about a long-term Vision here I used to be Ross welch. TV and then I learned very quickly that my clients only expect to deal with me and I’ve just created a job for myself like this business only revolves around me and if you want to create something bigger than just yourself and something that can continue running by itself or that you can sell or whatever you decide to do with with your business then in order for it to be bigger than you it can’t rely on just you so that’s where we started to think about okay different names and started to position things as a video production company now some of you might be thinking well Ross a production company needs multiple people in it I would argue differently I know people in London that are big production companies and there’s literally just you know two co-founders and they Outsource all the other stuff to Freelancers so for me it’s all about a positioning thing I want to position myself as a production company and who knows we might even give this business away at some point in the future so I’ve gone through here there’s some there some kind of okay ones actually go got pixel Pioneer Studios uh Vision Vanguard maybe not or Vision media um uh spark shift uh okay I’m just going to I I do I do like this pixel Pioneer I’m just going to go back to um what are these guys looking for you know small businesses um Customer Loyalty repeat business engagement brand awareness um let’s let’s see it comes up with can you do something around engagement or brand awareness cool nice brand boo Studios that’s sick yeah I like that brand boo Studios um I think that’s awesome I like that I’m going that hopefully you guys are happy with that too we’ve got a name I’m going to be late for a meeting so I need to jump off right now and um I’ll be right back and we’ll finish this off all right we’re back so so it’s hard juggling all these all these businesses as if I need to start another one uh but anyway here we go that was a really good call with with a client actually um about some upcoming Pro projects and some strategic partnership opportunities which is really cool uh but anyway enough about that let’s get a head back into this so um brand boost uh studio um or brand brand boo Studios is what we’re going to go with um and uh the next point of the funnel to remind myself is right now we’ve got the name we can start to build out um a logo for this sorry I’ve also just had a snacks I got stuff in my teeth um you can tell this is live so um let’s go into the logo section now and then we’ll start to build out the website email address etc etc you want to try like a a few of these to be fair um and I think what holds a lot of businesses back by the way from getting started is quite simply that they’re trying do everything properly um and sometimes in business you just got to get going get going generate some money then figure it out later on everyone wants to make it perfect before they actually move on to the next stage but you’re making something perfect that you don’t know is going to work or not um if it’s going to connect with people and like I said I started out as Ros welch. TV and then we changed it we’ve changed our logo and branding and so on and so forth and we will do again in the future so keeping all of this stuff in mind sometimes just getting started is is the there’s going to be loads of people on here that can literally do a logo for super cheap for you as well um there’s a lot that goes into a good logo but you don’t need to pay the Earth especially when it’s a business that you’re just trying to figure out we just want to make it look legit because by not doing you know I’m not going to have a portfolio to leverage when we’re trying to get sales so I need to make sure that I do this stuff really well so that my lack of portfolio doesn’t seem like it’s it’s it’s missing um but anyway um I haven’t got any money to spend cuz we’re doing this for z uh but I would probably have a little look on fiver would be a good good bet um let’s see what looker came up with in the end oh that one’s not too bad it just looks a bit okay let’s see what the other designers say really quickly oh okay so logo. a logo ai.com has actually done a uh way better job um this is a bit more I guess what we what we wanted um or just looks a bit bit legit oh I don’t believe it there’s a mark on the ceiling up there um you’ve got to pay for these and I don’t have any money to pay for it um I like this one I thought it was cool I think there some other cool ones as well um but you have to you have to pay for it um which is a killer um I didn’t actually realize that at all let’s see if this one brand Mark is another one as well um basically one time okay so it’s not free so okay the these will come up with some cool ideas I tell you where is free though canva.com um now I’m going to be completely clear I do pay for canva premium um but I’m not going to use any of the pro templates I’m just going to use the basic one so I’m just going to uh that would be free to any of you guys I’m going to put logo let’s open up some of these then that are fine to use okay for the time being I’m just going to go with the ones I got because I am just running out of time today as well and I need to actually get this done so um I’m going to go to customize this template let’s have a little play around with this uh this one as well it gives you other ones that I like it um let’s go customize this template let’s bring that over here and let’s go to this one what you want to do is when you’re doing any design stuff we building this out is really just get uh some ideas and just just work on some ideas to begin with tell you what I’m going to fast forward ahead I’m going to try out some designs I’ll show you what I’m going to choose in a second [Applause] hey so I think we’re getting there with it I’m just really conscious about about time um we don’t have that long left in the day so for me what I’m going to do is I’m going to just call it there I’m going to pick uh my my favorite one and make some adaptations to it later on I was looking at loads of other different ideas for um different logos and I kind gone down the route of this one for brand boo Studios or this one here as well now I think if we’re going to be bold we’re going to be like yes we’re going to get you results we’re going to get you to stand out I think this one probably does that better this one seems a little bit nicer softer I don’t know if we’re going to be a soft brand so um I I think although I really like this Arrow um I think this is where I’m going to go for is we we’ll start with this and we’ll go from there so um what I need to do is just uh get this exporting and then we’ll go on to the next point which is going to be uh onto the website and again we’re going to leverage some AI to save some time so for the website I’m going to use web 10 U which is an AI uh website I’m conscious that it might try and charge us uh when we come to launch it but let’s take a little look at that I’m hoping to take full advantage of the free um uh free trial and then hopefully in that time well certainly with if they’re giving us a 7-Day free trial or 14-day free trial then we’re aiming to sign some clients in the next 3 days um well less than that now basically almost two days so um I can’t crack on with this let’s get started for free and let’s see what happens and straight away um I’ve come into obviously I need to sign up but I need an email address now I’m going to go against the advice that I give everyone and that is you need to get a proper email address you know you should always have your name like Ross then business name you know do or whatever um because that makes you look like a professional business way more legit take yourself way more seriously I want to do all this without spending money even though that that’s not going to cost me more than $10 the domain name itself says to own the website URL is probably going to cost me uh like $1 or like maybe maybe $5 at the most um they do a lot of offers for like 99 Cents Etc or if you’re in the UK 99 P um and then uh Gmail cost like yeah I think it’s about3 a month or something like that again probably about $5 so um I’m going to try and do all of this without that and and hopefully you can get some results by I’ve got a few strategies up my sleeve that I that I want to share with you when we get into this point but before we move into that next start uh that next stage of the process I’m going to head over to Outlook and then just sign myself up with a free email address so we’ll call it boost brand Studios outlook.com yeah let’s do Outlook I’m such an idiot I have literally just called this boost brand and it’s brand boost oh my God uh let me go back and change that if I can okay right we’ve done it so um finally I just set up a brand new email address that was my bad um cool so um next we want to go over and create a free account over here so now we can use right so I’ve logged into the AI uh web Builder and um as I thought it gives you stuff going to that going to that business plan and just kind of again just revisiting what are the key points not thinking about me and what I want to say starting to think about the small business have a portfolio to kind of come through this and basically give the end user this small business that’s reading this um just limited information but that gets straight to the point I actually went over to a couple of websites to create this video this is just stop imagery now if we were doing this properly and I had a couple of extra days then what I would do is I go out I’d speak to businesses I would do a swap strategy or I do some content for free to build out that portfolio because it’s really important but I don’t have the luxury of doing that so I’ve used some stock footage and I’m going to if this was my business after we’ve made some sales I would start to then replace it with the content that I’m actually shooting what’s really important for anyone to understand is if you’re using stock footage it has to fit in line with the content that you’re going to be producing when I went through some of the websites I’ll share with you in a minute I was actually trying to find content that didn’t look that great or looked you know average so that it would fit in with what we’re trying to do the worst thing I see is when I work with video production company owners or you know videographers through my Academy we actually see that they’re using stock imagery or they’re saying they work with these brands that are massive massive Brands and there’s a big disconnect between what the audience are seeing and what you’re saying and that’s really key CU if there’s a disconnect there they won’t use you so well we talk about doing spec work or we talk about using uh basically stock footage it needs to fit in with your brand and what you’re actually able to do in line with what you’re saying so the couple of websites I used for that was uh pixels um they had loads of free content on there also pixer Bay and then finally went over to canva and actually created the video inside canva here as well and was able to just put the text on there along with our logo and uh that’s what we uploaded to the website we kept the text about introduction to who were they’ve got all of these buttons let let’s talk everywhere because that’s what we want to do we just want to get a discovery call so those buttons need to be everywhere we’re thinking about the sales Journey basically are they in the right place when they come on to the website are they in the right place and then if they’re looking for video production then this instantly should talk to them and say hey we work for small businesses like you we’re going to help you stand out so they know they’re in the right place so then logically they start to read about the next thing they start to understand the services I would then back it up with testimoni portfolio to show them that we can deliver on what we’re saying but I don’t have that luxury so let’s keep our fingers crossed for the sales aspect we help small businesses like you again just hitting that home and then we’ve got video production photography Services social media content and video editing as well again just trying to keep everything in that kind of like low-end bracket just started my business don’t have a background in this so you know just trying to kind of keep it organic and and authentic where possible finally the bottom of everywhere website should have a contact form if someone’s landed on their your page and they’ve gone all the way to the bottom then they’re clearly somewhat interested you just need to get them to enter this uh in so they give you a detail press send or if they click on any of the let’s talk buttons maybe they only come so far down the page and they’re like yep I actually want to have a chat with these guys then this will take them straight through to again just a contact form that they can fill out right now so we have covered a lot today and it’s been an extremely long day we have gone over the whole business building section uh we’ve gone through that although quickly we covered it and we’ve worked out that it’s important because that’s the foundations to build our business from and we’re going to really need that in our next sales process tomorrow then we’ve started to build out the brand something that I was kind of hoping that we would get done today um and of course we did but um I was kind of a little bit worried because these things can often take a lot longer than than you think I’m not going to do social Pages cuz I’ve got no content to post nothing to back it up with so I’m going to just focus on what we’ve got in the moment so we came up with a name logo website email address and tomorrow I’m excited because the first thing we’re going to do is jump straight into sales and start to figure out how are we going to get someone to pay us when we 0.12 the first thing is building a business
0.12 we&;re going to kind of start to
0.12 establish this over today maybe even
0.12 moveing into brand building as well so
0.12 these are things like establishing a
0.12 niche uh Services looking at benefits
0.12 and advantages tone of voice vision
0.12 mission who your ideal customer is then
0.12 once we&;ve got that we can start to
0.12 focus on building out Our Brands that&;s
0.12 things like our marketing material our
0.12 website email addresses things like that
0.12 then it moves into one of the most
0.12 important points which is sales and that
0.12 always starts within lead generation
0.12 there&;s a hundred different campaigns
0.12 that we can try and run and I&;ll go
0.12 through with you what ones are going to
0.12 get us the quickest results later on in
0.12 this series and everything basically
0.12 leads to a discovery call on that
0.12 Discovery cool we sell them the project
0.12 and there we go that&;s how we&;re going
0.12 to generate our first paying client then
0.12 it creates a bit of like a loop here as
0.12 well which any business should have
0.12 which is why this is this series is
0.12 going to be relevant to people who have
0.12 been going for a few years and looking
0.12 for better ways to run their business
0.12 more efficiently and of course this is
0.12 built on the background of my own video
0.12 production company uh that&;s generated
0.12 millions in sales and work we work for
0.12 clients all over the world um or
0.12 certainly uh now my team does as well
0.12 which is really awesome so once you&;ve
0.12 got the project we obviously go to the
0.12 production process which we can also use
0.12 for marketing which then fuels our
0.12 marketing kind of inbound uh lead which
0.12 leads us into a discovery call which
0.12 gets us more projects but obviously then
0.12 we go down that uh whole process of
0.12 deliverables you know moving them on to
0.12 a year-long retainer by signing them
0.12 onto a Content plan or having
0.12 discussions with them about future
0.12 projects and again everything leads back
0.12 into this Loop and this is what builds a
0.12 really healthy business or what I&;ve
0.12 discovered through my years of growing
0.12 our own production company so let&;s get
0.12 straight into this today so um we&;re
0.12 going to be looking to start with
0.12 business building and and finding uh
0.12 kind of a niche that works because if we
0.12 start here the name logo website
0.12 everything can derive from what we want
0.12 to to do moving forward and what I&;m
0.12 going to do is quickly just create a uh
0.12 a Google doc where I&;ve got uh the
0.12 business plan so I can kind of start to
0.12 map out a bit of a to-do list or just do
0.12 these things as we go as well so when we
0.12 think about a niche it doesn&;t always
0.12 have to be an industry and actually one
0.12 of my bits of advice to creative people
0.12 is not actually starting with a niche
0.12 straight away because you have no idea
0.12 if it&;s going to make any money you
0.12 don&;t have a portfolio or background in
0.12 that at all so until you become more
0.12 established and work out the kind of
0.12 things you&;re good at and kind of work
0.12 out having a niche is all about
0.12 understanding that audience speaking
0.12 their language and actually then having
0.12 a best chance of success when you&;re
0.12 starting out or starting a business
0.12 particularly with me right now with no
0.12 portfolio I need to look at like okay so
0.12 what kind of problems am I going to be
0.12 solving so when I talk about Niche I&;m
0.12 really going to be going quite broad
0.12 here but I know I&;m certainly going to
0.12 be going over um small business owners
0.12 because with small business owners
0.12 they&;re going to be our lowest hanging
0.12 fruit right they&;re going to be the
0.12 people that have got a little bit of
0.12 money to spend but are willing to take
0.12 you know a bit more risks I can&;t go
0.12 over over to big companies and basically
0.12 say to them do you want to work together
0.12 if I&;ve got no track record and no
0.12 portfolio so I&;m going to start with
0.12 what we call a lowest hanging fruit the
0.12 easiest s that we can get so I&;m going
0.12 to go over small business owners
0.12 particularly in the local area and I&;m
0.12 going to see what we what we manage to
0.12 do uh there as well so the next Point uh
0.12 on on here is going to be uh our
0.12 services what kind of things are we
0.12 offering um so Services is really easy
0.12 because most of you know that already so
0.12 video um content for uh website and
0.12 social media and then also we&;re going
0.12 to be doing
0.12 photography I think if you can do both I
0.12 think it&;s really good especially if
0.12 you&;re starting out because um
0.12 businesses at the moment we&;ve noticed a
0.12 big shift towards photography um and
0.12 it&;s a much easier sell into them as
0.12 well um it&;s lower ticket compared to
0.12 video content but it could be a way to
0.12 get into the door into these businesses
0.12 or have a conversation about photography
0.12 and then upsell video content um onto
0.12 that as well maybe uh as we look into
0.12 that as time goes on benefits and
0.12 advantages by the way so many people
0.12 skip this step um when they are building
0.12 a business and this is probably one of
0.12 the most important steps is actually
0.12 building out the foundations to which
0.12 everything else it relies upon um
0.12 because if we go straight into name logo
0.12 website we&;re then not really talking to
0.12 specific people and we don&;t really know
0.12 what challenges we&;re solving for them
0.12 there is actually a really good AI tool
0.12 that I&;m actually just going to use
0.12 right now um and then that&;s that&;s
0.12 called founder power but this is
0.12 basically I&;m getting a couple of steps
0.12 ahead of ourselves now but um over on
0.12 our plan this is our ICP and IC CP is an
0.12 ideal customer persona it&;s what we base
0.12 our business around that what does that
0.12 ideal customer actually look like so I
0.12 am kind of jumping ahead here but um
0.12 again I really want to today make as
0.12 much Headway through this as I can um I
0.12 also obviously I&;m running my other
0.12 businesses as as we do this so um I know
0.12 I&;ve got a couple of meetings today that
0.12 I need to leave for as well uh and then
0.12 come back to so um I&;ve tried to keep my
0.12 meetings to a minimum but it&;s
0.12 impossible when you&;re running like four
0.12 businesses so your business is uh video
0.12 uh
0.12 videography or uh video content or
0.12 something like that it&;s fine and then
0.12 your target audience segment is going to
0.12 be uh small local business owners this
0.12 is pretty broad again over time we can
0.12 Niche this down more but we don&;t really
0.12 have the luxury of doing that when we
0.12 get into the sales thing I&;m already got
0.12 some ideas of some niches and how I&;m
0.12 going to approach that there&;s going to
0.12 be a whole bunch of value when I get
0.12 onto that point but I&;m trying not to
0.12 jump head because um you know that&;s
0.12 just you know keeping in mind what I
0.12 know so it creates a Persona so here
0.12 I&;ve got Sarah Sarah is a small business
0.12 owner who runs a Cozy Cafe in the heart
0.12 of the city um she struggles with
0.12 engaging video content to promote her
0.12 business and social media so yeah that
0.12 that sounds like a good kind of um
0.12 person that that we would want to want
0.12 to Target the problems that people like
0.12 Sarah or small business owners face is
0.12 creating high quality content to

0.12 not what businesses want they actually
0.12 often want brand engagement but the term
0.12 brand awareness is so overused that we
0.12 will just use that same thing but
0.12 actually what they&;re looking for is
0.12 that engagement um so great stuff Sarah
0.12 wants to effectively showcase um her
0.12 business for all intents and purposes um
0.12 through engaging video content
0.12 ultimately increasing uh yeah Customer
0.12 Loyalty uh and and traffic as well um
0.12 it&;s also got some other benefits here
0.12 which I was getting on to um which is
0.12 um uh uh increased online engagement and
0.12 reach on social media platforms improved
0.12 brand brand awareness and recog and
0.12 local community enhance customer loyalty
0.12 and repeat business so I&;m just going to
0.12 actually take these here because we&;re
0.12 going to use these when we when we build
0.12 out uh the sales strategy later on
0.12 otherwise we don&;t know what we&;re
0.12 saying so
0.12 uh and by the way difference between
0.12 like benefits when you when you think
0.12 about this by the way my spelling is
0.12 terrible but uh you don&;t need to spell
0.12 good to run a successful business that&;s
0.12 for sure um so if you think about it
0.12 like this if You&; got a mobile phone
0.12 then um you know that&;s the actual
0.12 product that&;s the kind of service right
0.12 that that&;s the thing thing um a benefit
0.12 of having a mobile phone is that you can
0.12 phone people when you&;re in an emergency
0.12 um the advantage of having an iPhone
0.12 over a different type of phone is that
0.12 you can have you know find my iPhone or
0.12 you can have you know IM messager and
0.12 all stuff like that when you start to
0.12 think about your business on th those
0.12 levels it actually means that you&;re not
0.12 just selling video content like everyone
0.12 else in the industry and uh you&;re then
0.12 just going to blend in it helps you to
0.12 really stand out and actually talk
0.12 the language of the things that they&;re
0.12 looking for no one wants to buy video
0.12 content no one wants to buy photography
0.12 but actually um that they&;re going to uh
0.12 you know what they want are the results
0.12 so we need to be results focused here um
0.12 founder pal gets you gets you a good way
0.12 there but again I would do some market
0.12 research if you&;ve got more time but we
0.12 we don&;t have we don&;t have time to do
0.12 this so um let&;s just let&;s just go with
0.12 this uh so trigger why does why do they
0.12 all of a sudden want video marketing um
0.12 competitors viral videos so this is this
0.12 is really key actually here um so we&;re
0.12 going to lean into this in in our
0.12 strategy later on for sales so
0.12 trigger uh importance of video
0.12 marketing yeah cool um small businesses
0.12 often can feel like they&;re falling
0.12 behind especially when um other their
0.12 competitors are just constantly like in
0.12 the Forefront of people&;s minds so we
0.12 we&;ll lean into that as well as a pain
0.12 Point um barriers is uh yeah production
0.12 and costs isn&;t going to be too much of
0.12 a problem because we&;re starting out as
0.12 a beginner lack of technical SK skills
0.12 we can do that skepticism about the
0.12 return of investment um so yeah um this
0.12 is something that we could get into as
0.12 well but again I&;ve got no portfolio and
0.12 this is where actually if anyone&;s got a
0.12 case study if you if you&;ve already got
0.12 clients do a quick case study on them
0.12 like what position were they in what
0.12 position are they in now haven&;t used
0.12 your services um and then this helps
0.12 handle this objection about skepticism
0.12 um or or return of investment Okay cool
0.12 so um we we we&;re through this part
0.12 already um and which is good um so tone
0.12 of voice um is going to be key how do we
0.12 want to sound um do we want to be big
0.12 bold and brave do we want to be like you
0.12 know this is who we are we create
0.12 amazing content we&;re you know going to
0.12 do this or do we want to be softer more
0.12 kind of warming uh do we want to come
0.12 across as
0.12 personal um so what I try and get people
0.12 to do at this point is think about um
0.12 who is who would be your celebrity who
0.12 would be someone that&;s a celebrity
0.12 figure that kind of is in line with you
0.12 know your uh values and the things that
0.12 you stand by um so let me have a I have
0.12 a little think about this now okay um
0.12 the only one that really comes to mind
0.12 to be honest with you is Steven Bartlett
0.12 um U I&;ve spok about him on on the
0.12 channel before because he is actually my
0.12 production company&;s kind of you know
0.12 tone of voice as well he is the only
0.12 person that comes to mind and that might
0.12 just be a reflection of my personality
0.12 and again my beliefs and values and
0.12 things like that um the reason I think
0.12 stepen Bartley is good because you know
0.12 not only has he been extremely
0.12 successful in business he has a lot of
0.12 different revenue streams he he uh is a
0.12 dragon on Dragon&;s Den um you know the
0.12 UK version of Shark Tank and he um is
0.12 you know he speaks with um conviction he
0.12 has confidence he knows his stuff he&;s
0.12 an authority in the space but he also
0.12 shares compassion um he listens to
0.12 people um he&;s not afraid to challenge
0.12 people on their thinking but ultimately
0.12 to try and help them uh in the long run
0.12 so I think it&;s a very kind of helpful
0.12 character so let me just note these down
0.12 now Okay cool so there&;s a couple of the
0.12 buzzwords there um the reason you want
0.12 to kind of do this cuz it&;s going to
0.12 help later on especially uh we&;re not
0.12 going to have time to probably do much
0.12 marketing but in the marketing sphere um
0.12 it helps you really kind of write
0.12 content write post and make sure that
0.12 you&;re coming across in the right sort
0.12 of way um I&;ve written down bold as well
0.12 and I think like already um I&;m going to
0.12 start to kind of like just put like
0.12 ideas um in here as well because you
0.12 know ideas happen all the time right
0.12 they don&;t just come to you when you
0.12 think I&;m going to think of an idea now
0.12 um so I was thinking like you know um
0.12 bold content for um uh
0.12 for for for businesses that want to
0.12 stand out so let&;s go back to our figma
0.12 board great so we&;ve kind of jumped back
0.12 and forth ahead here as well so vision
0.12 and and Mission so Vision what are we
0.12 what are we actually looking to achieve
0.12 you know we we know kind of a bit more
0.12 about what we&;re going to be doing now
0.12 um Vision so let&;s think about that
0.12 where where do I want to go where do I
0.12 see this business um well I see this
0.12 business being um so I I think it&;s
0.12 going to be something like um
0.12 we create content that that enables
0.12 small businesses to stand out what you
0.12 want to do here is is again I just don&;t
0.12 have time to spend like realistically if
0.12 you&;re doing all of this properly um you
0.12 should spend a good few days on this in
0.12 itself keep going back to it and making
0.12 sure that you you&;ve got this right and
0.12 I&;m kind kind of having to leverage some
0.12 of my past experience as well but um I
0.12 think you know we want to create a
0.12 statement that really encompasses like
0.12 why do people why should they listen to
0.12 you why should they come to you well I&;m
0.12 going to be going after small businesses
0.12 so you know having a statement piece
0.12 that&;s we create content that enables
0.12 small businesses to stand out or we
0.12 create content that enable small
0.12 businesses to um you know have a oneup
0.12 on their competitors whatever it is
0.12 really needs refining but but for now um
0.12 yeah I I think I just I&;m conscious I&;m
0.12 conscious that time is passing um really
0.12 really quickly so uh let&;s go on subm
0.12 Mission so Mission here is uh you know
0.12 basically what what is our mission to
0.12 achieve now again we would think much
0.12 bigger P picture here and maybe think
0.12 about kind of like um maybe even a onee
0.12 or fiveyear picture obviously we&;re
0.12 thinking about a 72h hour or or way less
0.12 than that now maybe to
0.12 um support at least one small business
0.12 with video content um to Kickstart this
0.12 business I think that&;ll do for now um I
0.12 also would like to see how many
0.12 businesses we can get as well and we&;re
0.12 going to try different strategies as
0.12 well and you&;ll be certainly coming
0.12 along on this journey as well through
0.12 through the things that will work well
0.12 and then the things that will inevitably
0.12 fail at as well you know you you cannot
0.12 learn from constantly succeeding have to
0.12 fail in order to learn and uh it&;s never
0.12 truly failing if you learn from it and
0.12 continue moving forward it&;s only if you
0.12 stop uh that that&;s you know there&;s no
0.12 other outcome when you stop then that&;s
0.12 it like that&;s uh that&;s you know what I
0.12 would can perceive as a as a failure so
0.12 um we&;re going to keep going with this
0.12 and we&;re just going to try different
0.12 things okay so we have gone over really
0.12 quickly this business building this is
0.12 the foundations um of building out our
0.12 business and actually already I&;m hoping
0.12 that you guys can also see this like if
0.12 I was just going to call my business a
0.12 name um it is just a name at the end of
0.12 the day but it&;s actually now going to
0.12 be way more meaningful now we&;ve got an
0.12 idea of what kind of business we&;re
0.12 going to be um and how we&;re actually
0.12 going to help people um business success
0.12 is solely based on your ability to
0.12 convince people uh that you&;re uh get
0.12 going to be able to help them you know
0.12 um it help them in one way or another
0.12 kind of that that&;s the found ations of
0.12 having a business so um I think we&;ve
0.12 done a pretty good job of this we&;ve
0.12 leveraged a little bit of AI I&;m going
0.12 to get into more of that later on
0.12 particularly with sales as well so um
0.12 let&;s go to the next point now which is
0.12 which is then into the brand building
0.12 side of things so now we can start to
0.12 think of a name and this is where I am
0.12 just going to uh leverage um chat GPT as
0.12 one of those things okay so um I have to
0.12 appreciate that this is going to jump
0.12 back and forth at times because I&;m
0.12 obviously doing this live as we go I am
0.12 going to come back and visit all of
0.12 these things in way more detail
0.12 particularly when we start to get
0.12 towards more the sales element of this
0.12 and when we&;re looking at different
0.12 campaigns we&;re going to need to really
0.12 double down on that Niche and that&;s
0.12 when we&;re going to leverage AI a little
0.12 bit more and we are going to come back
0.12 to this but it&;s given me the
0.12 Foundations at the moment and there are
0.12 really five key things that you&;re going
0.12 to experience when growing your business
0.12 and moving forward which can often feel
0.12 like that saying of one step forward you
0.12 know kind of two steps back first of all
0.12 is your goals you need to set those
0.12 goals to get an idea and make sure
0.12 you&;re going in that right Direction
0.12 those goals are going to be followed by
0.12 problems there&;s no doubt you&;re not
0.12 always going to get it right first time
0.12 when those problems arise this is where
0.12 it starts to feel like you&;re going back
0.12 and that&;s where a diagnosis phase
0.12 starts to come in with that diagnosis
0.12 phase you need to identify the root
0.12 cause of those problems if you don&;t get
0.12 to the bottom of what&;s causing that
0.12 then you&;re going to probably just keep
0.12 experiencing that same problem so it&;s
0.12 all about getting to that root cause and
0.12 and um there&;s loads of strategies to
0.12 help with this as well so for instance
0.12 just ask yourself the reason why five
0.12 times so when you&;ve got a problem why
0.12 does that problem exist exists because
0.12 of XY Z why does that exist well because
0.12 of this why does that exist because of
0.12 this Etc then you actually get to the
0.12 root course after that it goes back to
0.12 kind of design or develop where we&;re
0.12 actually looking to um okay right this
0.12 was where we&;re going at in the line
0.12 with our business this is the the goal
0.12 we wanted to achieve but actually didn&;t
0.12 work this is what we learned from it
0.12 this is going to be the redesign
0.12 redevelop stage then sometimes it leads
0.12 on to another problem and and it loops
0.12 around or it then goes forward to the
0.12 point of just doing it and that&;s the
0.12 last St stage is actually you know just
0.12 implem is just implementing this thing
0.12 get it going move forward and that&;s
0.12 when your business starts to generate
0.12 that traction and we&;re going to
0.12 experience this no doubt as we go
0.12 through this process so I will come back
0.12 to these more in a moment but what I
0.12 want to do is I want to take all of
0.12 these things that we&;ve we&;ve written
0.12 down so so far I want to go over to chat
0.12 GPT and I want to give it some rules I
0.12 want to say um can you come up with a
0.12 name for my video
0.12 production
0.12 company and we want to give it some
0.12 rules here as well so

0.12 just created a job for myself like this
0.12 business only revolves around me and if
0.12 you want to create something bigger than
0.12 just yourself and something that can
0.12 continue running by itself or that you
0.12 can sell or whatever you decide to do
0.12 with with your business then in order
0.12 for it to be bigger than you it can&;t
0.12 rely on just you so that&;s where we
0.12 started to think about okay different
0.12 names and started to position things as
0.12 a video production company now some of
0.12 you might be thinking well Ross a
0.12 production company needs multiple people
0.12 in it I would argue differently I know
0.12 people in London that are big production
0.12 companies and there&;s literally just you
0.12 know two co-founders and they Outsource
0.12 all the other stuff to Freelancers so
0.12 for me it&;s all about a positioning
0.12 thing I want to position myself as a
0.12 production company and who knows we
0.12 might even give this business away at
0.12 some point in the future so I&;ve gone
0.12 through here there&;s some there some
0.12 kind of okay ones actually go got pixel
0.12 Pioneer Studios uh Vision Vanguard maybe
0.12 not or Vision media um uh spark shift uh
0.12 okay I&;m just going to I I do I do like
0.12 this pixel Pioneer I&;m just going to go
0.12 back to
0.12 um what are these guys looking for you
0.12 know small businesses um Customer
0.12 Loyalty repeat business engagement brand
0.12 awareness um let&;s let&;s see it comes up
0.12 with can you do something
0.12 around engagement or brand awareness

0.12 the way from getting started is quite
0.12 simply that they&;re trying do everything
0.12 properly um and sometimes in business
0.12 you just got to get going get going
0.12 generate some money then figure it out
0.12 later on everyone wants to make it
0.12 perfect before they actually move on to
0.12 the next stage but you&;re making
0.12 something perfect that you don&;t know is
0.12 going to work or not um if it&;s going to
0.12 connect with people and like I said I
0.12 started out as Ros welch. TV and then we
0.12 changed it we&;ve changed our logo and
0.12 branding and so on and so forth and we
0.12 will do again in the future so keeping
0.12 all of this stuff in mind sometimes just
0.12 getting started is is the best thing

0.12 not going to have a portfolio to
0.12 leverage when we&;re trying to get sales
0.12 so I need to make sure that I do this
0.12 stuff really well so that my lack of
0.12 portfolio doesn&;t seem like it&;s it&;s
0.12 it&;s missing um but anyway um I haven&;t
0.12 got any money to spend cuz we&;re doing
0.12 this for z uh but I would probably have
0.12 a little look on fiver would be a good

0.12 think it&;s about3 a month or something
0.12 like that again probably about $5 so um
0.12 I&;m going to try and do all of this
0.12 without that and and hopefully you can
0.12 get some results by I&;ve got a few
0.12 strategies up my sleeve that I that I

0.12 websites to create this video this is
0.12 just stop imagery now if we were doing
0.12 this properly and I had a couple of
0.12 extra days then what I would do is I go
0.12 out I&;d speak to businesses I would do a
0.12 swap strategy or I do some content for
0.12 free to build out that portfolio because
0.12 it&;s really important but I don&;t have
0.12 the luxury of doing that so I&;ve used
0.12 some stock footage and I&;m going to if
0.12 this was my business after we&;ve made
0.12 some sales I would start to then replace
0.12 it with the content that I&;m actually
0.12 shooting what&;s really important for
0.12 anyone to understand is if you&;re using
0.12 stock footage it has to fit in line with
0.12 the content that you&;re going to be
0.12 producing when I went through some of
0.12 the websites I&;ll share with you in a
0.12 minute I was actually trying to find
0.12 content that didn&;t look that great or
0.12 looked you know average so that it would
0.12 fit in with what we&;re trying to do the
0.12 worst thing I see is when I work with
0.12 video production company owners or you
0.12 know videographers through my Academy we
0.12 actually see that they&;re using stock
0.12 imagery or they&;re saying they work with
0.12 these brands that are massive massive
0.12 Brands and there&;s a big disconnect
0.12 between what the audience are seeing and
0.12 what you&;re saying and that&;s really key
0.12 CU if there&;s a disconnect there they
0.12 won&;t use you so well we talk about
0.12 doing spec work or we talk about using
0.12 uh basically stock footage it needs to
0.12 fit in with your brand and what you&;re
0.12 actually able to do in line with what
0.12 you&;re saying so the couple of websites
0.12 I used for that was uh pixels um they
0.12 had loads of free content on there also
0.12 pixer Bay and then finally went over to
0.12 canva and actually created the video
0.12 inside canva here as well and was able
0.12 to just put the text on there along with
0.12 our logo and uh that&;s what we uploaded
0.12 to the website we kept the text about
0.12 introduction to who were they&;ve got all
0.12 of these buttons let let&;s talk
0.12 everywhere because that&;s what we want
0.12 to do we just want to get a discovery
0.12 call so those buttons need to be
0.12 everywhere we&;re thinking about the
0.12 sales Journey basically are they in the
0.12 right place when they come on to the
0.12 website are they in the right place and
0.12 then if they&;re looking for video
0.12 production then this instantly should
0.12 talk to them and say hey we work for
0.12 small businesses like you we&;re going to
0.12 help you stand out so they know they&;re
0.12 in the right place so then logically
0.12 they start to read about the next thing
0.12 they start to understand the services I
0.12 would then back it up with testimoni
0.12 portfolio to show them that we can
0.12 deliver on what we&;re saying but I don&;t
0.12 have that luxury so let&;s keep our
0.12 fingers crossed for the sales aspect we
0.12 help small businesses like you again
0.12 just hitting that home and then we&;ve
0.12 got video production photography

0.12 editing as well again just trying to
0.12 keep everything in that kind of like

0.12 they&;re clearly somewhat interested you
0.12 just need to get them to enter this uh
0.12 in so they give you a detail press send
0.12 or if they click on any of the let&;s
0.12 talk buttons maybe they only come so far
0.12 down the page and they&;re like yep I
0.12 actually want to have a chat with these
0.12 guys then this will take them straight
0.12 through to again just a contact form
0.12 that they can fill out right now so we
0.12 have covered a lot today and it&;s been
0.12 an extremely long day we have gone over
0.12 the whole business building section uh
0.12 we&;ve gone through that although quickly

0.12 foundations to build our business from
